Accuracy and corrections
What a briefing states, what it does not, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Harrier Signals provides dated business-monitoring information. A Source Fact states what the named source recorded at the event, publication and retrieval times shown. A Harrier Assessment is our reading of cited Source Facts under the methodology version named in the briefing. Sources can publish late and can contain errors. An assessment is not a regulator's finding, a credit rating or a prediction that an organisation is unsafe, insolvent or likely to close. We apply reasonable care and skill, we state the limits of what a source shows, and we investigate every reported error.
Before taking a decision with material consequences, check the linked source, its dates and its context, and take advice where you need it. That does not remove our responsibility for our own errors. Report a concern to hello@harriersignals.co.uk. We suppress a disputed assessment while we check it, and when a material error is confirmed we correct our record and write to every recipient the item reached. The subscription terms set out the contractual remedies.
A stale or unavailable source is labelled as such, and a quiet week is reported as a quiet week. Absence from a register is not proof of the reason. A CQC deactivation is not necessarily a closure. A provider-link change is not necessarily a sale. A registered manager shown as absent, or changed, is a register entry and nothing more. A sponsor-register disappearance does not prove a revocation. An insolvency petition is not an order. A members' voluntary liquidation is a procedure for solvent companies. A satisfied charge does not establish that every debt has been repaid. A hygiene rating belongs to the establishment actually rated, which may be a caterer and not the operator. Where a source publishes no date, the briefing says so.
Our briefings carry the attribution each source requires. They contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0, with the publisher's own attribution where required, and Ordnance Survey data under its open licence. A plain-text rating carries no badge, logo or endorsement.

Every line in every briefing carries one. Write to hello@harriersignals.co.uk with it, or use the correction link in the briefing.
We hold the item and read the source again
A disputed reading is suppressed while we check, so it is not repeated in the meantime.
We tell everyone who received it
When a material error is confirmed we correct our record and write to every subscriber the item reached, not only the person who told us. Every correction is kept on record.
What changed, by release
Every release is dated on the changes page. The first issue after a release says what changed, so a subscriber never has to guess why a briefing reads differently.
