Authorised capacity is the number of vehicles an operator may run.
An operator's authorised capacity changes in public, on a dated record.
Dealers hear about a fleet's growth when the trucks turn up on someone else's forecourt. The licence application that allowed those trucks was published weeks before, and it named the sites.
When it rises, the operator has told the Traffic Commissioner it intends to run more, and the record does not say whether they are new, used, leased or already held. The Desk gives you the operators that applied, so your account team covers them before the decision publishes rather than after it.

Capacity expansion
Authorised capacity is the most an operator may run, so a verified rise is worth checking against your own account coverage before the decision is published.
Site expansion
A change at an operating centre puts vehicles somewhere they were not authorised before, which is worth checking against the accounts you already serve in that area. Verified where the bulletin printed a licence total.
Network change
Capacity moving between sites is a change in where vehicles are based rather than evidence of a larger fleet.
Licence transfer
A Schedule 4 stage moves an operating centre between licences without a change in the vehicles authorised there. It is not evidence of a vehicle order.

Common questions
Does it say whether the vehicles are new or used?
No. The record never does, and the Desk never infers it. It says authorised capacity rose and by how much.
Can I filter to my franchise's weight class?
The licence type is shown. Vehicle make and class are not in the record, so no filter can honestly claim them.
What area does it cover?
Goods-vehicle operators in England and Wales, across all seven traffic areas. Choose regional coverage around a location you pick, or the full England and Wales plan.
Can I use this for sales?
Yes. The Desk names companies, never people, and uses depot addresses only. Your own marketing rules still apply, and the Desk is built to make them easy.
What does it cost?
The 14-day trial is free and needs no card. Continuing is monthly by card, cancel any time. Regional coverage is £60 a month plus VAT, £72 in total and national £150 a month plus VAT, £180 in total, an introductory price, held for twelve months.
What happens when the trial ends?
Delivery stops on day fourteen and nothing is taken. Your trial page shows the price and a continue button throughout. If you continue before the end, the free days you have left are kept and the first charge date is shown before you pay.
