For the businesses that supply restaurants, pubs and caterers
Follow the published hygiene changes in your area.
Food businesses are inspected by local authorities and the ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency. We keep our own dated copies of the register, for the businesses that sell to them.

Why we can read this sector
Restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotels, cafés, shops, caterers, schools and care home kitchens are all inspected by their council, and the Food Standards Agency publishes each rating with its date.
What we read
Food Standards Agency, Companies House. We keep our own dated copies of the register, so we can see a fall in the copy it first appears in, with the rating it replaced. The register holds trading names, so the alerts carry the businesses we can match to a registered company, and every briefing says how many it left out. Every source and its limits.
A real example from Hygiene Rating Alerts
The first briefing a trial opens with. Covering the 90 days to 6 September 2026, prepared 21 September 2026. No sign-up.
- Start here. The falls most worth a call, with the rating before and after and both dates
- Other changes. Every matched venue in the circle with a published change, one line each
- Only venues matched to a registered company, and the count of those left out
- The publication lag, stated, so the date is never overstated
