How we decide what to send
We spot a fall by comparing two of our own dated copies of the register, so we can date it to the copy it first appeared in. We show the rating as a number with its date and source, never as a badge. The register holds trading names, so the alerts carry the businesses we can match to a registered company, and every briefing gives the count of those left out.
What you can rely on
- A rating is a number
- Published by the council through the FSA, shown as a number with its date. Never a badge, never a judgement of the business, never a closure.
- Two dates on every rating
- The inspection date and the date the rating reached the register, so you can see how recent the visit was.
- Registered companies only
- The register holds trading names. The alerts carry the businesses we can match to a registered company, and every briefing gives the count of those left out.

England and Wales through the Food Standards Agency's register. You choose the territory.
Can I use this for sales?
Alerts name businesses, never people, and use the premises address only. Where we cannot match a company the alert says so. Your own marketing rules still apply.
